Bailey’s East End

This month David Bailey returns to his native East End to present a retrospective on his old hunting ground, from the 1960s to present day.

Bailey puts his reputation for photographing the rich and glamorous to one side to focus on post-war landscapes and portraits of its residents. In a year where London is taking centre stage, it seems fitting to celebrate the past and future of the East End, an area in great flux.

Highlights include Bailey’s ex jean Shrimpton (photographed in a chunky knit… she’s a woman after our own heart!) and wife Catherine Bailey.
